Woche 45: Missionskonferenz

Liebe Mutter,
Well, I am doing amazing! Our meeting with Elder Bednar was awesome! I learned so much, I will explain a little bit more in my email.

I did get my scriptures, yay!

That is so cool for Colter! So many people are leaving now for their mission! How awesome!

I believe we will skype on Mother's Day, not too sure of when though.

Woche 45: Missionskonferenz

Montag
P-Day! Well, Elder Wahl and I were playing the piano and some lady just walked in the church wanting to listen to us. We talked to her for a bit and she said she just loved the piano and so we invited her to church and she told us where she worked. Hopefully we will talk to her again sometime!

Dienstag
No District meeting this week! It was way weird not having a meeting on Tuesday, but anyhoo. We planned on going to Traisen, which is absolutely beautiful! But we needed to wait an hour for our train. So we went out finding and we talked to a ton of people! We tried so hard to be inspired. Well, we were walking back towards Bahnhof when I spotted some lady on the street. I totally knew that we needed to speak to her. So of course we did, and it turns out she can't speak German, but English is her Mother tongue, yes!!! Well, we talked about the Book of Mormon with her and about being missionaries. She was interested and so we told her we would give her one in a couple of days. And then we headed off to Traisen! IT was amazing, rolling hills and beautiful green grass in Austria, amazing! We talked to so many people but no one was interested. So we then headed back to St. Pölten for a meeting and we were finding on the way. Well we stopped a Jehovah Witness and started talking to him. Well, he was pretty interested in the Book of Mormon and how we can better understand the Bible and the word of God! It was so cool! And then we met with a new investigator and he bought us dinner unexpectedly! Awesome, and we talked about the Book of Mormon and a lot of it can be perfectly translated into Arabic and languages of the sort because it was translated from Hebrew! He was way surprised and said he will take another look at it. The Book of Mormon is so true!!!

Mittwoch
Well, we spent most Wednesday in Horn, which is north of us. It took two hours to get there and another two to get back. And we went there, to visit a member who is doing an exchange program with a host family and they had some questions. One of their biggest concerns was with Chastity. We bore strong testimony that we have these laws because the family and marriage go past this life and have such an important role in our eternal destiny!

Donnerstag
Thursday we had a lesson with the lady we met on Tuesday. We met in the park because it is so nice here. We talked about the Bible and the Book of Mormon. We explained the history of the Book and why we have it in the first place. We got to know her better and it turns out that she is from South Africa and that she is a very big believer. She had a lot of questions about the commandments and how we can't do a lot. We told her that the commandments do not just restrict us from doing certain things, they protect us and actually give us more freedom. She was pretty interested and said she would read the Book of Mormon.

Freitag-Samstag
Mission Conference! Elder Bednar came and it was amazing! We pretty much had a discussion with him. He would talk and we could ask questions and answer his questions and make comments. There was one point where I was raising my hand quite a few times. And then later he asked if there were any other short succinct statements we had. I shot up my hand and he called on me. So the mic guy came over and I was starting to get a little excited and then all of a sudden the mic was in my hand. I got so nervous! And anyone who knows me knows that I get so nervous! Unbelievably nervous! And now with an Apostle! Man, but I stood there and just said, "I forgot what I was going to say," And he immediately said, "Just wait, it'll come back to you." So I started with this statement, "It's not about iPads... It's about the Holy Ghost and how important he is and how much more important he will become as we get new tools in the mission." And he asked if that was my statement and I said yes. And then he looked out into the audience and said, "I don't know about all of you but this Elder here has learned something he will never forget. The Holy Ghost will always fill your mouth. Like him, he didn't quit and sit down, he just went for him and he was reminded. Now, the entire time my legs were shaking but I did learn something! I don't need to be afraid of anyone or anything! I don't need to be nervous! I always have the Holy Ghost with me as long as I am acting worthily and he will always help me!!! It truly was an amazing experience to have an Apostle of the Lord with us. I know that Elder Bednar is one of His special witnesses in these Latter Days! The Lord's church is on the Earth because of Joseph Smith! The work is moving forward and the Gospel is spreading all over the earth!

Woche 44 - The Holy Ghost, Our Companion

Woche 44
Okay, well I don't have too much time this week, but the work here is going good. It is slow, but it is starting to pick up. Seeing all of the miracles here is just amazing! I love this Gospel so much. This week we had another lesson with "I". She is just so awesome. We are still looking for a good date for her Baptism and she said she wanted to make sure she could invite a friend, how awesome! She just keeps making progress! This week we also had Zone Training. We talked a lot about the influence of the Holy Ghost. As members of this Church, we are given the privelage to have this member of the Godhead as a companion at all times. What a wonderful blessing! Shouldn't we always make sure we are worthy enough to have his presence and to use this wonderful gift? Well, we should and we need to! Well, I don't have a ton of time but I know this church is true and that we have the fulness of the Gospel on the Earth today. Until next week!!!

Woche 43: Listening with Spiritual Ears

Woche 43: Oops...
Well, last week I failed to tell everyone if I am staying or not. Okay, so here it is. I will be staying in St. Pölten with Elder Wahl. Only change is our area name. We no longer St. Pölten2, we will now be known as St. Pölten A.

Montag
Monday was P-Day! Yay! Well, we had a member appointment with the Schildböcks. They made us some amazing Schnitzel with an Austrian potato salad and some rice. And then we also had a lesson with Sister Zettl. She is from Ivory Coast, so when we told her that a temple would be built there, she was so excited! It is so different here than it is in America. When they go to the Temple, they go for an entire week, because it is so far away. I was reading the small info boxes for the three countries being blessed with a Temple and one said that earlier the closest temple was 12 hours away, and then a one day trip and the last was 1000 miles away. The church is growing at an unbelievable rate and spreading all across the world!!!

Dienstag
Tuesday we had District Meeting. We talked a lot about the companionship of the Holy Ghost. How we learn from him and how we can be directed by him. One important thing is to listen with Spiritual ears! And then we ate at Herbs. It is some Wiener Schnitzel restaurant and we ate Cordon Bleu Schnitzel there and it was massive. It was about 600 grams! It was huge and I ate all of it plus half of the Sister's who sat next to me, haha...

Mittwoch
Wednesday went by on some people. Unfortunately no one was home and we got lost!!! But we found our way back.

Donnerstag
Transfer Day! Well, today we were in a trio. Elder Wahl and I were with Elder Jakobi because Elder Seamons left for home! But, today we had another lesson with "M". She is so awesome! Well, today she expressed a lot of different concerns so we just promised all of the different blessings that come from this wonderful Gospel.

Freitag
Friday we helped move some furniture at Sister Sindls and then after that we had an amazing lesson with "I". We talked about the Family Proclamation with her. She loved it and agreed that the Family is so important and that parents have such an important job and role in this world. We then extended a baptismal invitation. She said that she will look for a date! How exciting!
Samstag und Sonntag
Saturday and Sunday we pretty much went out to find and go by on people but again no one was home and all of our appointments fell out!!!

Woche 42: Bleibe ich oder nicht?

Woche 42: Bleibe ich oder nicht?
I didn't get any pics this week but I found this one that I had never seen in his dropbox.
Elder Wahl and I are staying together for another transfer, this makes me happy!

Montag
Well, since I don't usually have anything great to say for Monday, I guess this would be a good day to recap last week since my email was a little shorter than it was supposed to be.
So like I said last week, we found a woman through dooring. We have met with her about four times now. The first time we met with her she expressed a concern as to why there are so many different churches, and of course we jumped at this opportunity. We explained the story of Joseph Smith and told her why so many churches exist, as well as the way to find out which one is true. She opened up so quickly to us, expressing so much desire to follow Jesus Christ and getting to know Him better. And so we then eventually invited her to come to church. She said that at church, amidst her loud kids, she felt something. Quietness and warmth in her heart. She felt a difference in this church that she had never felt before. She felt simply the truth and the power that was restored.

Dienstag
Tuesday we had District Meeting like usual. We spoke about Baptism, and of the importance in planning.Following District Meeting, we went home and did a little bit of finding.

Mittwoch
Wednesday, we had another lesson with "M", the woman from above. We talked about the Book of Mormon. We explained that the Bible can be interpreted so many different ways. Like a circle with one line being able to go through at so many different angles hitting the middle. But with the Book of Mormon, we can understand what God truly wants from us and what His plan for us is. We told her we had friends coming from Vienna that day so we would bring one in Romanian later that day. She was looking forward to it. Well, we went out finding and then later brought the book by. She thanked us so many times and said that she was looking forward to reading it.

Donnerstag
Thursday we went out finding and did some more finding and then some. We found one person who said to come back at a later time. So we shall see!!!

Freitag
Friday we had another wonderful lesson with "M". She told us she read Jacob 5! The allegory of the olive tree. She then told us while she was reading with her friend, her friend told her that if she kept reading, she would then understand it. And so she kept reading, and then relayed it almost perfectly. And she told us she dreamt only of the Book of  Mormon. We later had a lesson with "I". She is doing so well. She loves the Book of Mormon and accepts everything to be His word. She finds so much comfort in the words of the Prophets of old.
Samstag
Saturday Sister Brunnsteiner invited us over for Brunch. It was so good! And then went over to Vienna for a Finding Day! We sang Easter Hymns and went and talked to people about Easter and why Jesus Christ is so important! He truly does live!

General Konferenz
So, General Conference was absolutely amazing. Despite the time difference, we were able to hear from living Prophets and Apostles that live today! We were able to hear of the miracles in the world and to listen to what God wants from us. How beautiful it is to know that He loves enough to grant unto us what He gave to people thousands of years ago. Jesus Christ truly did resurrect from the dead and lives today. Not only does He live, but He guides this very church and leads us. He lives, and because He lives, we will all live again. Because He suffered for us in that garden many many years ago, we have the opportunity to have eternal life and live with our Father in Heaven. I am so grateful for this knowledge and for the opportunity to share this wonderful message.
